Regarded
by his peers as among the most skillful and able tax lawyers,
J. Timothy Bender joined Robert J. Rotatori to create a law
firm in 2001 with a reputation for having the expertise and
ability to deal with the legal challenges facing a business
world caught in the wake of highly publicized financial wrongdoing.
A veteran of seven years with the Internal
Revenue Service, Bender served the government in increasingly
responsible positions as he was promoted within the IRS. Bender
testified as an expert witness on behalf of the IRS in complex
tax cases.
A graduate of the University of Akron
in both undergraduate work and law school, Bender began his
career in private practice in 1979. He joined the law firm
of Kadish and Krantz where he specialized in tax work.
The firm was reorganized in 1984 and
became known as Kadish and Bender.
In 1995, Bender joined Roetzel and Andress
in its Cleveland office and managed the corporate department
for all of the firm’s Ohio offices.
“Tim has an aggressive philosophy
in his approach to government tax cases that appear to be
headed toward criminal prosecution,” Robert J. Rotatori
says. “He works toward a resolution that minimizes charges
by dealing with cases in their formative stages.”
Bender is a litigator and the firm’s
key strategist in tax cases, both civil and criminal. He represents
clients in a legal arena that is experiencing increasing aggressiveness
on the part of the government and drawing more and more upon
the use of sophisticated technology in its prosecution efforts.
Bender lives in Gates Mills.
