J.
Scott Broome is an experienced attorney in the field of tax
controversy and criminal tax defense. His work with the Internal
Revenue Service gives him a perspective on tax matters that
is extremely valuable to clients.
Broome served the government as an IRS
District Counsel lawyer for six years before he left in 1994
for private practice. During his time with the IRS, he was
involved in hundreds of cases ranging from criminal to tax
collection matters, advising IRS agents and officers across
Northern Ohio. A large portion of his work at the IRS involved
litigating cases before the United States Tax Court.
Scott gives our firm an extraordinary
dimension when it comes to tax controversy and criminal-related
tax cases, Robert J. Rotatori says. His government
experience and his ability in the courtroom make him formidable
in the adversarial process.
A graduate of The Ohio State University,
where he majored in accounting, Broome received his law degree
from Case Western Reserve University before entering government
service.
At the conclusion of his government
service, he joined the firm of Kadish & Bender where he
practiced in civil tax controversy, criminal tax, and other
white-collar criminal cases. Broome later joined Roetzel &
Andress, where he continued to represent clients faced with
civil and criminal tax issues and white-collar criminal issues.
Broome is admitted to practice in Ohio,
the Northern and Southern Federal District Courts in Ohio,
the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Tax Court.
He has represented clients both locally and nationally.
In 2001, he
joined his present firm, then known as Rotatori, Gragel
& Stoper. Broome became a partner in Rotatori, Bender
in 2004.
Broome lives in Gates Mills.
